Cromer was originally a small fishing village and port, but by 1900 it was rapidly developing as a seaside resort. The streets are still, today, similar to how they were in Victorian times. The 1900 pier still survives, as does the fishing trade. Cromer is especially famous for its crabs and lobsters. The tower of the 15th century church was once used as a lighthouse.
