| Please note that the last lesson of 2003
will be at East Ham on Thursday 18th December. Training will resume
at City Limits on Sunday 4th January. We hope all our members and
their families have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We have a full calendar of events for next year including a lesson with Sensei Carpenter at Matsuba Kai on Sunday 15th February, a special one-day course with Sensei Carpenter in March (date to be confirmed) and an Open Course with Shihan Kanazawa and Sensei Murakami on the 17th and 18th April in Wanstead (we are also trying to arrange a club grading with Shihan after the course). Congratulations to those who recently took Dan gradings with Shihan Kanazawa in Windsor. Matthew and Savva both passed Shodan (1st Dan), Harvey Roberton passed his Nidan (2nd Dan) grading and Sensei Mick Power, at long last, took and passed Sandan (3rd Dan). Also, well done to Sensei Clive Young of Kobukan who graded to Yondan (4th Dan) on the same day. The lesson on Sunday 13th November is cancelled as all the instructors will be attending a course with Sensei Simon Oliver.
Special lesson with Sensei Roger Carpenter (6th Dan) at city Limits on 5th October. Anyone wishing to grade with Shihan Kanazawa during his visit in November will need to attend this lesson. Special congratulations go to Daniel and James who both double graded.
Members are reminded to bring along their grading cards to each lesson as the Instructors will be checking these for an upcoming grading. Well done to all those who attended the course on Saturday 24th May with Sensei Simon Oliver. A full report will follow shortly. Well done to all those who participated in the S.K.K.I.F. National Championships in Watford, especially the Juniors that travelled such a distance and stayed to support the seniors right up until the end of the competition. Matsuba Kai did really well and came away with quite a few trophies, read the report here. Well done to everyone who entered the Matsuba Kai Junior Annual competition. Well done to all those who graded on Sunday 15th December 02. We are pleased to report that all passed and Jamie did exceptionally well by jumping to temporary 7th Kyu from 9th Kyu.
