Vanzay is a small quiet village situated between Chaunay and Lezay, approximately 25 minutes' drive south of Poitiers. It can be easily reached from all major ports and Poitiers, Limoges or Bordeaux airport. There are supermarkets etc approximately 10 minutes drive away at Lezay and Couhe, and 15 minutes drive away at Sauze Vaussais, Civray or Melle. The village has a shop and small fishing lake.
The house, which stands in its own large courtyard with gardens to side and rear, has been carefully restored leaving many original features such as exposed oak beams and stone flag floors. It has been divided into three with a gîte at either end. The gîte La Grange is to the left of the photograph and Le Four to the right. The English owners, Glynne & Lorna Helliwell, live in the centre together with the Bed & Breakfast ensuite room and are on hand to offer help and advice.
Vanzay is surrounded by flat countryside, fields full of sunflowers and sweet corn in summer, and the quiet country roads make it ideal for cycling or walking. Both gîtes are well equipped with toys and play equipment for children. La Grange has an above ground solar heated pool, safer with small children, and Le Four has an in-ground pool - both of which are ideal for a relaxing family holiday.
