Pubs
|
One of the best things about rambling is the chance to visit traditional country pubs. Most of our rambles have
a lunchtime stop at a pub for refreshments and they give the ideal opportunity to relax and socialise. Most
publicans are very welcoming and value the extra business that walkers bring but there are some important things
to remember:
- Before going into the pub either take your boots off or cover up with carrier bags.
(preferably matching!)
- If you are planning to eat your own food ALWAYS ask first even if you're in the pub garden (the leader will
normally do this and advise).
- Always buy a drink of some kind.
- Never take out a vacuum flask, even in the pub garden
(this is one of our golden rules).
- Show consideration to other people in the pub, they may be out for their Sunday Lunch.
- Thank the publican and return glasses to the bar.
Although most country pubs are friendly to walkers there are a number that are worthy of special note. Below, we have listed
some pubs around Leicestershire that have been used over the years with success.
We will change the list from time to time so let us know of any that you feel
should be featured or removed.
