The autumn has stayed very open so we have been able to leave some cattle outside to eat off the surplus grass and save some straw at the same time. It`s the first time for years that we haven't had sheep `on tack`(we can't, anyway, we daren`t!).
During the month we took delivery of 6 Montbelliarde yearling cattle from a farm in Cornwall. These are to be the foundation of a small herd of milkers to produce milk for our cheese making venture, they produce milk that is especially suited for the purpose.
We have drilled Rye, Wheat and Beans with only minor damage from Rooks and Slugs so all the crops look well at the moment. We have been planning to grow a few more vegetable crops next year, so we can perhaps do a few more Farmers Markets.
