By water, we are on the Cornish bank of the River Tamar, which forms the border between Devon and Cornwall, and which meets the River Tavy (from Dartmoor and Tavistock) before flowing into the sea at Plymouth. The Tamar is well used and easily navigable - we are upriver from Weir Quay and Cotehele Quay - Morwellham Quay is a short distance further up. By road, we are off the A390 between Tavistock and Liskeard. Calstock Boatyard, Lower Kelly |

Self Drive Boat Hire If you're visiting Calstock on holiday, why not hire one of our licensed self-drive craft to explore the stunning scenery of the River Tamar. On a boat, you are free to enjoy this quiet and historical section of the river. Potter up to Morwellham, past the industrial heritage where you can land and visit the museum. Or drift down to Cotehele Quay and picnic. Advice and instruction on boat handling is available if required and a full inventory of safety equipment is provided with the boat, plus a mobile phone for contact with us back at the boatyard. As the River Tamar is tidal, we do recommend that customers contact us for the most advantageous times. Keep an eye open for herons, kingfishers, cormorants, buzzards... even a leaping salmon or the local seal! |
