After completing a degree in English and History, and a Masters in Medieval Studies, Gail pursued a varied career which included living in a Cumbrian castle, listing historic buildings for English Heritage and leading walking trips in Italy, Gail gave in to her nomadic instincts and became a full-time travel writer. Gail loves the desert, mountains and sea in equal measure, and enjoys writing about walking, independent travel and eco-tourism, contributing to several UK national newspapers and magazines such as the Observer, Telegraph, Sunday Times Travel Magazine and the Independent.
