IMPORTANT INFORMATION
For your
own safety please follow the advice and instructions of your leader.
Whilst every care is taken in planning routes we can accept no liability
and participation is entirely at your own risk.
On roads
members should walk in single file, facing oncoming traffic unless
otherwise instructed by the leader.
The walk
leader determines the pace of the walk. Please therefore keep behind
your leader at all times. Do not try to “force the pace”.
Walking
boots must not be worn on the coach after walks. Please bring a change
of footwear and “bag” your boots before getting on the coach.
WHAT TO
BRING
The following should be considered a
minimum list of equipment you should have.
-
Boots. These should be waterproof and
have a good "Vibram" or similar sole. Ordinary shoes, trainers or
similar are not suitable for hill walking.
-
Waterproof (not showerproof) jacket and
overtrousers
-
Food (sufficient for 2 meals in winter)
& emergency rations such as Kendal Mint Cake or energy bar.
-
Plenty to drink (hot drink in winter)
-
Spare warm clothing
-
Hat & gloves
-
Survival bag
-
Torch (with good batteries) & whistle
-
First aid kit & any personal medication
you may need.
NOTE – Please don’t be tempted to wear
denim jeans when walking. If it rains they get cold and heavy very
quickly and are very slow drying.
Please remember the walk leader may not
allow you to join their walk if they think you aren’t properly equipped
- the safety of the group is paramount.
