I live in the town of Bolsover, with my partner Kate and three cats.
There should be some pictures as
soon as I get the hang of setting up these pages.
Kate now has her own webpage
set up on Virgin, please go and take a look at it. Like these
pages, they will develop as time goes on. The first problem was
navigating the confusing instructions on the Virgin website!
Bolsover has a castle,
several pubs and a few assorted shops.
It's on a hill overlooking the Derbyshire countryside, which
is
useful as I'm a keen Amateur Radio enthusiast. I have some other pages, relating to Amateur Radio, on the ham-radio.ch servers
I'm trying to research the early UK radio enthusiasts. This
started when I was living in Crigglestone, near Wakefield, and I read a
book called "The
World at their Fingertips" by John Claricoates (G6CL).
In this book was an extract from the Return of applications
for
Licences under the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1904, dated June13, 1906.
At the top of the list, which appears to be in alphabetical
order, was H. H. T.
Burbury of Crigglestone (Wakefield) and Barnsley
and that started me wondering about who he was and where he
experimented from. I'm building up a list of the Early Radio Pioneers
and am looking for more details about them.
Professionally, I am an energy efficiency engineer, carrying out
surveys for The
Carbon Trust and advising companies on how they an
reduce their energy use, save costs and reduce the Carbon Dioxde
emissions. Again, links and pages will be added when I get
round
to it.
Please send me an email if you want more details of anything on my
pages, or you have information that you think may be of interest.
My email address is dave at g0dja dot co dot uk.
Use @ for
'at', a full stop instead of the word 'dot' and don't leave any spaces,
nor have a fullstop after the 'uk'. :-)
