Club
Policies
In accordance with British
Gymnastics Guidelines, Lancaster and Morecambe Trampoline Club are
seeking GymMark Accreditation, and subsequently have produced various
policies to ensure the welfare and equal treatment of all existing and
potential members of our club.
Click on a link below to view
each policy.
This policy must be adhered to
by all adult members of Lancaster and Morecambe Trampoline Club in order
to protect the children within the club.
Training
Sessions
No club member
may participate in training sessions until a completed medical form and
a Code of Conduct has been returned to the coach in charge of the
session. Similarly, all club members must have current British
Gymnastics membership.
There should
always be at least two adults present in the gym during training
sessions, except in unforeseeable circumstances. At least one of the
adults in the room should have attended a Child Protection Awareness
Course. There should be a minimum of one coach to twelve trampolinists
during training sessions. Parents are welcome to watch sessions but must
remain at the side of the hall, away from the trampolining area.
No photographic/videoing
equipment is to be used during training sessions or competitions, as
stated in the Club Code of Conduct. However, parental permission may be
sought to use videoing equipment for training purposes, and for
photographs for publicity purposes.
Coach’s
Behaviour
Coach’s should
act in loco parentis at all training sessions and competitions.
Inappropriate behaviour or language should not be used. Additionally,
coaches should ensure that they treat all trampolinists equally and do
not resort to discrimination of any form at any time.
Coaches should
operate an ‘open door’ policy and permit parents to view their
coaching. Inappropriate coaching or ‘over-handling’ pupils should be
avoided. Non-intentional physical contact, through either the
trampolinist’s or the coach’s actions, should be reported to the
Welfare Officer and the trampolinist’s parents immediately.
Trampolinist’s
Behaviour
Bullying is a
form of unacceptable behaviour and will not be accepted within the club.
Any member of the club who is seen to be bullying another will be
excluded from that session. Persistent
bullying may result in permanent exclusion from the club.
Competitions
No competitor
under the age of 16 will be permitted to attend a competition without
parental permission. During travel arrangements to competition, a
communal drop-off point should be arranged so that no child is left
alone with an adult in a car without express parental permission..
Complaints
Procedure
If a member or
parent of the club has a complaint they wish to discuss, they should
contact the Welfare Officer, Mrs Sandra Crossley, immediately at sandra@crossleyp.fslife.co.uk
. Alternatively, the head coach, Miss Zoe Riley, may be contacted at lmc-trampolineclub@hotmail.co.uk
.
Concerns about
abuse, child welfare and poor coaching practice should be reported to
the Welfare Officer in confidence. If abuse is suspected, the Welfare
Officer must take appropriate action. If the suspicion is mild, the
parents may be consulted. If the Welfare Officer decides more serious
action is required, she should contact Social Services or the Police. If
in doubt, the Welfare Officer may seek advice from the NSPCC or the
British Gymnastics Ethics and Welfare Department.
Where a complaint
is made, all information disclosed must be kept confidential. The
Welfare Officer should fill in an Incident Report for all levels of
concern, and send a copy to the Ethics and Welfare Manager at British
Gymnastics within 24 hours. If the concern is very serious, the Welfare
Officer should make telephone contact with British Gymnastics as soon as
possible.
Recruitment
When recruiting
new adult members, either volunteers or coaches, a safe procedure must
be adhered to. The applicant must fill in the application form provided
by BG and provide two references, one of which should be a previous
employer. The applicant should complete the Self Declaration form
provided by BG. An enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check should be
completed and returned clear before the applicant can become a member of
the club.
Upon the new
member’s induction to the club, the member should be made aware of the
Child Protection Policy and sign the club’s Code of Conduct. The new
member should attend a Child Protection Awareness course as soon as
practically possible.

Due to Health and Safety regulations it is important that

side of the sports hall. The coaches are available to discuss
trampolinists progress at the end of the session.
20.
Hard working well-behaved and dedicated individuals will be
more likely to be selected for the competition class, teams, special

21.
Trampolinists must attend their designated sessions 75% of the
