About Judi Whitton
After a happy childhood in Lancashire, and time at University in Reading and Birmingham, Judi moved to the Cotswolds for a career as a research scientist. This gave way to being Mum to three daughters (a fabulous part of her life!). During this time she was introduced to watercolour painting and was soon 'hooked'. After a few years of intensive painting her unique style evolved, and she found herself with an increasing demand for her work. She was also invited to share her enthusiasm by teaching, demonstrations to Art Societies, workshops and commissions. Her entry in the Who's Who of Art records that she is the President of the Palette Club, and a member of the Fosseway and several other art societies. She has had many highly successful two week exhibitions in Painswick, Gloucestershire. She passionately believes in the importance of painting landscapes 'on-site' and this is borne out in the freshness, effect of light and spontaneity in her work. Recent Publications Following the huge success of Judi's first book 'Reflections' (now sold out) Judi's watercolour 'Wet Day in Venice' was selected for the 'Master Painters of the World' section of ' The International Artist' April/May 2001. Judi writes about her painting "I love the quiet light conditions just after a downpour-colours are soft and subdued and light is reflected from the wet streets. The atmosphere is damp and still and gives the watercolourist a wonderful opportunity to concentrate on achieving the 'feeling' of the day." Judi is a regular contributor to The Artist Magazine and some of her articles have been included in the book 'Practical Problem Solver' published by Harper Collins. She is currently working on a new book to be published by Harper Collins later in 2005. |
