Chikara
are a small group of Karate clubs, based around the Wirral, Merseyside.
Our former Chief Instructor, the Late Sensei Doug Phillips (6th Dan) taught
karate in the Wirral from the early seventies and from this grew Chikara.
Founded in Pensby in 1986 ,we offer regular classes in Shotokan Karate,
and Kobudo, at both Pensby Upton and Heswall. Our members regularly take
top honours at both regional and national events. Classes cater to all
ages and abilities, from 4yrs to Adult, beginners to Black Belt. All instructors
have been CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checked. We are members of the
BKA (British Karate Association),one of the longest established multi style
martial arts organizations in the UK (est 1964), and are recognized by
the EKF (English Karate Federation), the overall governing body for Karate
in the UK.
