• We began Church, Community & Change in October 2003.
  • Supported by Tearfund - a Christian charity which supports the world's poorest people.
  • Aim: An in-depth training process which helps churches to become more involved in meeting the needs in their local communities.

We have learnt quite a lot about the good things and the bad things of life for people in Woodside. This has come from a variety of sources:

a) By asking people who do not normally attend church - The Chatting Exercise;
b) By asking young people and their parents in our uniformed organisations;
c) By attending Aberdeen City Council Community Meetings:

  • Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour in Tillydrone & Woodside;
  • Woodside Neighbourhood Planning Network - Regeneration Framework proposals
  • Hilton Neighbourhood Planning Network
The main issues of need which have been identified, so far, are:
  • Personal Safety - fear of being attacked, fear of crime.
  • Anti-social Behaviour
  • Substance Abuse - drug users, alcohol addiction.
  • Facilities - both the lack of them and the under use of existing ones.
