We stock about a dozen sizes of sacks suitable for Agricultural & Industrial purposes. The sacks have holding capacities ranging from 10kg - 100kg.
Our sacks are usually white circular woven, with stitched bottoms & hemmed tops. They have 10 tapes to the inch in both warp & weft, making them a strong & well tried pack. If you are not familiar with our type of woven Polypropylene Sacks, go down any motorway and you will see small white sacks, filled with sand holding down the road signs. Many are likely to be supplied by us.
Deliveries in the U.K. are swift from stock items, and are generally repeatable. Our minimum lots are bales of 1000s or more. Prices range from about 12p to 40p per sack.
We have traded in sacks since 1850 when Patrick Connolly converted his lodging house in Liverpool into a marine store, dealing in ropes, chains & sacks, thus making us one of the oldest firms in England still selling fabric bags. Herbert Whitburn, my Grandfather joined the firm in 1894 and the Whitburn family have owned the business up to the present day.
We pioneered the manufacturing of woven polypropylene sacks over 35 years ago. As competition from the Far East strengthened, we were forced to stop manufacturing. We are now merchants again as we were at our inception and now draw our supplies from the Far East.
Due to products being handled & supplied in bulk, our business in sacks has very much declined over the years to the point that I, Alan Whitburn, have become more or less a sole trader. I am still able to cope with any orders be they large or small. My attention is dedicated & assured.
We trade in Sandbags to local authority specifications. These are always in stock for flood relief, civil engineering and road projects.
