The Village Voices Choir was founded in 1995 by 14 people under the direction of Irene Smith.

The Choir’s first public appearance was in Llangollen in 1995; since then it has performed and
grown more or less steadily to its present strength of about 40 members.

The choir performs regularly throughout Warwickshire and in more distant venues including Ireland, Wales, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Bridport and Holland.

Village Voices have an informal twinning with The Voorweg Choir of Heemstede in Holland (Leamington’s Twin Town)
and have enjoyed exchange visits with this Choir since 1997

The choir sings a wide variety of music: Church anthems and spirituals; traditional music; extracts from musicals and other popular songs and ballads.

In addition to holding fundraising events to meet its own expenditure, the Choir raises a considerable
amount of money each year by donating the proceeds of concerts to a number of local charities.

The Secretary is always pleased to hear from potential concert organisers who can offer a Church or Hall
with reasonable acoustics and an audience of 100 or more. We also take bookings to sing at Weddings.

New members are always welcome. No auditions are held, but the Musical Director reserves the right
to move a singer to another group if she feels it more in keeping with his/her vocal range.
