The property consists of a house, a cottage and stables. They are situated just to the North East of our nearest village (Saint Savin de Blaye) and close to the Charente Maritime border. Both dwellings have been renovated to a high standard and we have written consent from the Mairie & Planning Department to convert the stable into further living accommodation. They could also be renovated back to stables if you are into horses or feel like setting up a riding school on the nine and a half acres of land! The nearest village (4kms) is Saint Savin de Blaye which has a pizzeria, newsagent/tabac, bakeries, hairdressers, bank, pharmacies, a small Tourist Office, supermarket, hardware/ electrical shop, post office and school. The school takes children from 30 months to 11 years old and the school bus stops outside our front door. It also has a "garderie" which cares for pupils outside school hours (from 07:30 - 08:45hrs and 16:00 - 19:00hrs). It currently charges around 1.25 euro per child per hour, which includes snacks & drinks! The nearest Senior school is at Saint Yzan de Soudiac which takes under 10 minutes by car (through the vines!). Within a 25 minute drive there is a private school with an excellent record, which takes children from 30 months to 18 years old. Costs for private schools here are very low at around 1,500 euros per annum including meals. Although currently used as a Gîte, the cottage would make an ideal second dwelling for members of the family or could be used as a "Granny Annexe".
