Well, nine brave Sidmouth Runners pounded the streets of London on Sunday and many of us probably have the blisters today to confirm that
it was a great day and yes JP, in the main, the training did pay off.
The weather was mixed in that it started off with brilliant sunshine and nearly perfect conditions but after about 11 o'clock the heavens opened
and what started off as a welcomed shower from the heat turned into cold blustery rain, soaking us right through.
The crowds were magnificent as usual and despite there being serious congestion issues for the first 10 miles,
stopping you get into an even pace, many managed to achieve or better their predicted times.
Well done to Andy Shearer 3.28, Fiona Cummins 3.32, Adrian Organ 3.36, Huw Henessey 3.49, Mark Keast 3.55, Becky Robson 4.08,
Jane Hemsworth 4.14, Neil Rutter 4.14 and Helen Palmer 4.54.
Thanks also to all our Sidmouth supporters who provided great encouragement around the course.
The 2009 entry is online only but open already so I wonder how many of us have already put in their application for next year
despite the aches and blisters today.
For all those
inspired to take up running after watching the London Marathon, do not hesitate
to contact Malcolm Bayer for information and a chat.
