And Modern Jive will certainly get you moving; there are hundreds of different moves you can learn (which keeps things interesting), but you only need to pick up a few easy moves to start dancing like a pro and feel the fitness benefits. Beginners start off by learning 20 or so basic moves; you practise four new moves each lesson until you've mastered the lot! And if you're serious about taking up Modern Jive to work off those extra helping of Christmas pudding you can expect quite a few fitness benefits. For a start, regular Modern Jive dancing will help you burn off excess fat because it's a fast-paced aerobic excercise. But it's also good for toning legs, thighs, hips and stomachs.
