Opponents (pone) Crib - Basics
* this is just my opinion, it's not gospel *
The objective of lowball, when it is you opponents crib, is twofold... you want to score as few points as possible with your hand, while increasing the value of the opponents crib.
We'll demonstrate, using the same two hands as for the basic strategies for the dealers crib.
Example 1 - 2, 3, 4, Jack, Queen, Queen
The 3, Queen throw, into the opponents crib, will score you 0 points, but is unlikely to result in a large crib for your opponent.
The 2, 3 throw will leave you with 2 points in your hand, while hoping to give runs and 15's to the opponents crib.
The Queen, Queen throw leaves you with 5 points, while placing 2 points the opponents crib.
Depending on the situation in the game, all three throws (and even throwing 3, 4) are reasonable.
Example 2 - 2, 3, 3, 4, 7, 9
Throwing 2, 3 leaves you with 0 in your hand, while trying to make the opponent score with runs and 15's.
Throwing 3, 3 leaves you with 2 in your hand, while giving the crib of your opponent 2 points too.
Throwing 3, 4 throws result in 0 points in your hand (before the cut), and will normally result in points in the opponents crib.
