Historical Canal Maps series No. 2
CANALS OF BIRMINGHAM
This map has been out of print for some time, but preparation of a new edition is virtually complete. A small extract is shown below.
Covering Birmingham and the Black Country extending eastwards to Huddlesford and Fazeley, and including the whole of the Birmingham Canal Navigations, their part of the Coventry Canal, and the Stourbridge Canal. Much new data is incorporated including tramroads associated with the canals, and a good selection of the industrial sites served. Nearly 500 wharves and basins can be seen in this, the complex industrial heart of England's canals. Selected inset enlargements.
The opportunity has been taken to overlay the information on an Ordnance Survey base map including the National Grid.
The compiler would welcome any comments, corrections, or additions prior to the end of October, as publication in printed form is expected towards the end of 2008.
The map will be 23 x 24 inches approx, issued folded in a printed cover, at an expected retail cost of £5.00 plus 60p post & packing. Advance expressions of interest are welcome by e-mail or post, but please do not send any monies at this stage: you will be notified when copies are available for sale.
