Curiously attractive semi-pictorial manuscript plan, showing a property on the NE side of 'The Chester Turnpike Road to London', signed and dated Nov. 5th 1806. Ink and wash on paper, light spotting and creases. This is believed to be Cuttle Mill, near Paulerspury, Towcester, Northamptonshire, on the present A5 road. £55.00

Undated original manuscript plan of a fragmented collection of lands near Larcroft Lane, Long Lane, and Bunces Lane. The paper is watermarked 1829, but the style of the plans suggests they are copies of earlier surveys. Two blank pages at the rear have later been used to record an (unrelated?) valuation of lands at Rolleston taken from David Hopkins by the Great Northern Railway. Ink and wash, stitched in original paper covers. £78.00

[E257] . [Map] A Plan of the Lands of Sir Thomas Lee.. 40 x 17 inches. Good Seventeenth Century estate map showing Moreton House and adjoining lands some 3 miles SW of Aylesbury, belonging to Sir Thomas Lee of Hartwell. The Lee family were one of the largest landowners in the area for several centuries. The map is undated, but a later note suggests 1661 and advises that the 'House has long since been destroyed' Comparison with the Ordnance Survey shows that the map is remarkably accurate for its time, but the finish suggests that it is a draft or contemporary office copy. The house is shown in elevation, fields are named, and acreages given. Drawn in i nk on thin paper with title on reverse, later dissection and mounting on linen folding into card slipcase. Minor stains, mainly to backing, case a little rubbed. £420.00

Scale three chains to the inch. Less than 10 per cent of the country was covered by such maps certified as First Class. Ink and wash on paper backed tracing, dissected and folding on cloth £60.00

Together with a copy of the apportionment on 14 large folios, and a related note. Invaluable historical record for this area in the Wye Valley west of Hereford. £60.00

Three chains to the inch, in ink and wash on glazed cloth, folded. Coverage is mainly of the north and south parts of the Parish. Together with a copy schedule of the Madley Vicarial Tithe Rentcharge on 12 large folios, and a related note. Invaluable historical record for this area in the Wye Valley west of Hereford, although unfortunately the maps lack the central section covering the village. £35.00

One chain to the inch manuscript plan of farmland adjoining the brook at Malkins Bank, Wheelock, Cheshire, taken for the use of this chemical firm. Ink and colourwash on glazed cloth, folded. Together with six other various plans on cloth or tracing paper covering further adjoining purchases etc, 1887-91, all folded and some fragile. After a century of abuse by the chemical industry the land was reclaimed and is now a golf course. £16.00
