2007 - Only lightly shown during the year, Fancy had her highspots. She was Best of Breed and Gundog Group 3 at the Isle of Wight Open show in March, Best of Breed at Reserve Best in Show at Northern Golden Retriever Association's Open show in April, also winning their Working Test that day, Best of Breed and Reserve Best in Show at Hampshire Gundog's Open show in November and also won Best of Breed at Poole the following week. She was placed at all the shows she attended this year, but her main love in life continues to be out working on the shoots and she is never happier than when out picking up. I hope to get a litter from her in 2008 - fingers crossed.

Fancy had a successful 2006. She won her Limit class at Birmingham National Championship Show under John Clark which gave her her Stud Book Number. She was 2nd in her class at South Wales Kennel Assocation under Lynn Kipps and took Best of Breed and won the Stakes Class at Poole CC open show. More importantly she was presented with her full Working Gundog Certificate at the CLA Game Fair in July along with only a handful of other Goldens to receive this award. At Midland GRC Championship Show in December 2006 Fancy was declared Best Working In Show finishing her year in the ring with a flourish. Along with Nina and Freya she worked her second full season at Gurston Down in Wiltshire, picking up pheasant and partridge. A natural worker, she covers the ground with ease and style and brings many favourable comments from the guns at her determination to follow an injured bird until it falls. She also helped out in the more testing cover at Ashley Clinton bold as brass and eager to please. |
Although only lightly shown in 2005 Fancy was placed 2nd and 3rd in her classes at Crufts, was RBOB at Poole Open Show and won a lovely Post Graduate class at Belfast. Almost more importantly she passed both the first and second stages of the Working Gundog Test and so joins only a handful of show bred Goldens to achieve this award. She was also placed at other working tests during the year and competed in the finals of The Game Conservancy Workings Tests held in conjunction with The Midland Game Fair. 2003-2004 - At Fancy’s first show she won BPIB, with two more BPIB to follow latter on. She was also RBPIS at Isle of Wight Gundog Club, challenging from AV Minor Puppy. |

At Gundog Breeds of Scotland Championship Show she won her Puppy Bitch class, was declared Best Puppy in Breed and under BIS judge Mr Frank Kane won Reserve Best Puppy in Show, the highlight of her puppy career! In June 2004 Fancy won her first BOB under Carole Coode at Taunton, beating her mum to top spot. Sadly shortly after that she ate something poisonous which nearly cost her her life. She spent a week at the vets and was referred to The Small Animal Hospital at Langford, Bristol who I feel sure saved her life. Following the shock to her system she cast what little coat she had left, no thanks to the veterinary nurse at our local practice, who, not wanting to bother with washing her off after she had messed herself, decided to "trim" Fancy's knickers and tail! It took seven months for them to grow back. Any hope of a Junior Warrant went out of the window. |
To fill the time while waiting for a new coat Fancy started some serious gundog training and proved very proficient. Having come out on a couple of shoots and aquiting herself very well we decided to try for her Show Gundog Working Certificate and so travelled to Ampton, Suffolk on the 17th December 2004. I am delighted to say she passed it easily and so joined Freya for the last month of the season out on two local shoots. She has proved to be a natural.
