Fastest Fingers in the East (and sometimes West)

I am a highly experienced broadcast editor based in Edinburgh. Very fast and creative, I can perform offline and online editing and can grade, caption and complete effects work.

I have also had a lot of experience of integrating third party material such as 3D graphics and effects into editing projects and often use Photoshop to enhance and produce graphics for inclusion in programmes.

I can operate Avid and Final Cut Pro and I have had sound acquisition and mixing experience, including live radio broadcasting. Therefore I am more than capable of producing well-mixed audio and overall sound design, which has helped on those jobs with a tight budget.

Previous projects have shown that no matter what the budget or how tight the schedule, I will consistently deliver a finished, polished product on time.

On this web site you will learn about some of my past and present work and find out what makes me and the edit suite tick.

PREVIOUS CLIENTS' COMMENTS

"Quiet creativity delivered very quickly and good fun to work with. "

David Strachan Managing Director, Tern Television

"I have worked with Simon on those occasions when we have had to edit outside of the BBC. He is creative, patient and above all fast. I appreciate his attention to sound and he creates some very sophisticated M&E tracks. I could say the usual - he's pleasant, courteous, considerate, but he might feel too luvvied so I won't !"

Lucy Conan Senior Producer, BBC Education

"I am writing to thank you and your staff for their dedication and expertise during the edit...My 'special awards' go to Simon Blakeley for a quite excellent edit."

George Cathro Managing Director, Hand Pict Productions

"Please will you pass onto anyone who should know, that Simon was wonderful, a complete star..."

Gwyneth Hardy Producer, Tern Television

"Whilst working with Simon I have had conversations about monkeys having relations with dogs, closet cowboy clients, and local council trained ninjas. In my opinion Simon lives in a fantasy world. As an editor he is...(add overstatement here). Were it not for previous experience I would highly recommend him." ;-)

Don Smith Creative Director, The Union Advertising Company
