The MDF meets at Swansea Mind on the first Thursday of every month. MDF is a user-led mental health charity run by and for people affected by bipolar disorder. They provide help and support to all affected by bipolar disorder (manic depression), whether sufferers or relatives and friends.

 

They aim to:

  • Support and develop self help opportunities for people affected by bipolar (manic depression).
  • Expand and develop the information services about manic depression.
  • Influence the improvement of treatments and services to promote recovery.
  • Decrease the discrimination against, and promote the social inclusion and rights of people affected by manic depression.

Membership Benefits include a quarterly UK journal, Self Management training courses, 24 hour legal advice line, travel insurance scheme and life assurance scheme.

The LGCM in South Wales meet twice a month in people's houses on the first and third Fridays of the month. They cover the whole of South Wales and even though most of their members are from Cardiff, they do hold meetings in Swansea and Llanelli from time to time. They hold about 3 a year in Swansea Mind's Centre and have been invited to hold meetings in several 'gay friendly' churches in Sketty.

They aim to:

  • Accept everyone of any belief and none, whatever their gender, sexual orientation, race or political affiliation.
  • Be non-judgmental.
  • Offer a listening ear
  • Respect confidentiality.
  • Build friendships through social activities and Christian fellowship.
  • Provide information on services and organisations in South Wales.
  • Encourage self-acceptance and self-confidence.
