DRAMA - GENERAL REGULATIONS 2008

Some of the rules have been revised.  Competitors please read rules carefully

 

1. All entry forms must be sent to the Drama Secretary on or before the 1st February 2008, accompanied by the proper entrance fees. POs and cheques payable to: Horsforth Competitive Festival of Music, Drama and Dance. All general enquiries to be made to the General Secretary.

2. The Committee reserve the right to refuse any entry and to withdraw any class in which, in the opinion of the Committee, there are insufficient entries. In order to be awarded a medal a minimum of 80 marks must be achieved by the winner and 85 marks must be gained to be awarded a cup or trophy. There must be at least three entries in a class before a medal can be awarded. The adjudicator may vary this rule at his or her discretion.

3. The order of competing in all classes will be decided by ballot and competitors will be advised of the approximate time of the competitions. Competitors are requested to be present at least 15 minutes before the start of their class in case the adjudicator is running ahead of time.

4. Where an age limit is specified, the age must be reckoned as on the first day of the Festival.

5. Competitors must appear in numerical order, otherwise they forfeit their right to compete. This applies to all classes (competitors are requested to let the appropriate Secretary know if they are unable to compete).

6. Professional actors or diploma holders of any recognised schools or colleges of drama are not eligible to compete in solo classes to which their diploma applies. NB: A professional actor is one who earns the main part of their livelihood by drama.

7. Trophies will be presented at the end of the competition. Trophies may not be kept outright and the winners will be requested to sign a bond undertaking to return of same to the Trophy Secretary one month prior to the next annual festival.

8. Certificates and adjudicator's reports will be available shortly after the adjudicators have finished their remarks.

9. Absolute silence during the performance of test pieces is essential. NO entrance or exit will be allowed after the adjudicators bell has rung until the test piece has finished. Communications with the adjudicator before or during the competition is prohibited.

10. The organisers and officers of the Festival shall be under no liability whatsoever for injury or damages sustained by any competitor or class of competitors by reason of negligence on the part of themselves or their servants or their agents, or otherwise or by reason of any defects in equipment or premises used for the purpose of the Festival.

11. All enquiries regarding the competition to be sent to the Drama Secretary and a stamped addressed envelope enclosed for a reply. Due to postal increases no correspondence or requests for syllabus can be entered into unless accompanied by a stamped addressed envelope.

12. No receipt will be given in respect of fees. The name of each competitor or entry shown in the programme being evidence of payment.

13. No video cameras allowed.

14. The Executive Committee shall have the power to deal with all matters connected with the conduct of the Festival not provided for in these regulations.
