
DANCE
- GENERAL REGULATIONS 2008

1. All entry forms must be sent to the Honorary Dance Secretary on or before 1st February 2008, the closing date, accompanied by the proper fees. Postal Orders and cheques made payable to Horsforth Competitive Festival of Music, Drama and Dance.
Entries must be on the appropriate form. No late entries accepted. No entries will be accepted without correct fees. Please send S.A.E.
2. In the event of insufficient entries for solo classes, open or novice, A-F, the organisers shall have the right to combine classes where necessary.
3. The order of competition in all Classes will be decided by ballot and teachers will be provided with a programme.
4. Competitors may enter once only in each solo section, twice (with a different competitor) in duet or trio section. Competitors are not allowed out of their age group in solo classes.
5. Competitors who are absent at their appointed time will forfeit their right to compete in that class.
6. The adjudicator's decision is final and no correspondence can be entered into regarding this decision.
7. Each school entering pupils will be issued with tickets for the teacher and each solo competitor. These tickets must be produced to gain admission to the hall - All other persons must pay the advertised entrance fee.
8. All entries are subject to the approval of the organiser, to whom the right is reserved of refusing acceptance of any entry without being obliged to give any reason for such refusal.
9. Medals will be presented at the time of adjudication. Trophies, which will be presented at the end of the competition, may not be won outright and the winners will be required to sign an undertaking to return the same to the Trophy Secretary on the first day of the Festival the following year.
10. All competitors will be given a mark sheet and certificate.
11. In solo, duets and trios a gilt medal is awarded the first, a plate medal the second and a bronze the third, providing the adjudicator feels these are appropriate. In Acts and Groups plaques are awarded to the teachers of the winning teams and runners-up. A short criticism is included in the report.
12. The Organisers and Officers of the Festival shall be under no liability whatsoever for any injury or damage sustained by a competitor or class of competitors by reason of any negligence on the part of themselves or their servants. No liability can be accepted for damage to equipment or costume. All children must be supervised at all times by parents while at the venue.
13. The Executive Committee shall have the power to deal with all matters connected with the conduct of the Festival not provided for in these regulations.
14. The age of competitors will be taken, as on the first day of the Festival, Birth Certificates must be produced if required.
15. A group consists of four or more dancers and is based on Ballet, National or Character. An Act consists of four or more dancers and is based on Modern, Dance or Tap - song may be included.
16. The Festival does not accept liability under any circumstances for the infringement of copyright, recording or performing rights arising out of any competitor's accompaniment or recorded music.
17. All enquiries regarding the Dance Competition to be sent to the Dance Secretary along with a stamped addressed envelope for a reply.
18. No audio/visual recordings or photography is permitted.
19. No re-dances allowed in Open Section C, D, E & F except in the event of tape failure.
NB: Although, as stated in the Regulations above, the closing date for entries is 1st February 2008, entries may be limited by the amount of time available. In the event of sufficient entries being received before that date, we shall, regretfully, have to close earlier.
