Come to the pottery and you can have a go making your own pot on the wheel and take it home for £5.00. All ages welcome.

Making pots on the wheel:
After the pot is made on the wheel:
Stage one: "Raw wear" unfired* clay is dried for a week after hand throwing*.
Stage two: "Bisque ware" after firing in the pottery kiln* to 1000 degrees for more that 12 hours slow warm and cool.
Stage three "Finished ware" after hand decoration with glaze* the pots are fired* again to 1200 degrees for more than 12 hours.
Glossary
Fired: cooked in a pottery oven.
Glaze: pottery paint (glass and minerals in water).
Kiln: pottery oven.
Unfired: not cooked.
Throwing: making pots by hand on the wheel.
Ware: pot style or stage.
Wheel: machine with spinning disk to make pots on.
