Our Partners
Bristol City Council

Bristol City Council helped establish Care & Repair in 1986; they remain our biggest funder and a key partner in our work. Every day in every part of the city we work with Council staff- grants officers, occupational therapists, social workers, homecare assistants to name but a few – to make life better for older and disabled homeowners. Their skills and goodwill are indispensable to our service. This year we are especially grateful to the City of Bristol College, which provided extended funding and tutors for our arts and activity groups as they move towards independence.

Primary Care Trusts

Care & Repair works closely with hospital teams to ensure clients return home as quickly as possible. In recent years our Healthy Homes training has enabled us to build bridges with community based health teams, who help to target our services for those most in need and in many cases avoid hospital admission. The Primary Care Trusts now provide substantial funds for our work, and we value our remarkably productive relationship with all their staff- a partnership that makes real and lasting improvements to people's lives.
"Care & Repair is empowering, it gives people a choice and makes them part of the solution."Celia Phipps, Community Nurse Manager.
Voluntary Agencies
Bristol has a thriving voluntary sector and Care & Repair works hand-in-hand with a wide range of community organisations, local charities and churches, calling in their extensive skills to compliment our own. Our staff know that there is a strong network of voluntary agencies to draw upon for help where, as is so often the case, they visit someone in need of home repairs and find other problems beyond our remit. By working together we can ensure the best use of resources and present a stronger, united voice to help champion services for older and disabled people. This year, as ever, we thank all those agencies who have helped us make a difference to the lives of so many people.
"Our work with voluntary organisations has been invaluable to the service and information that I can provide to clients. Regular contact with groups fosters confidence and understanding, and provides a natural way of mutually exchanging information. It means we can help often quite hard to reach people - gaining insights into their lives and situations."Nicola, Bristol Care & Repair Caseworker
Contractors
Our Handyperson Team carries out small but essential repairs. For bigger jobs we recommend only those contractors who we know to be trustworthy and capable, who do a good job at a fair price, and who are sensitive to the special needs of our clients. Having building work done in your home can be very stressful, and our caseworkers and technical officers value highly the special efforts made by so many of our contractors to ensure that their work causes as little disruption as possible.
"Knowing the contractors are not cowboys puts my mind at ease"Client Quotes from our Client Satisfaction Survey 2004
"The workers always left my home clean and tidy"
